Retreat Alternatives Are Coming to VCS

This year, due to the pandemic, traditional retreat will not occur.

This does not mean that we can’t have an alternative retreat that fits Covid regulations. The Student Council is currently working on planning a fun alternative to retreat activities this year.

Nothing on the Alliance Redwoods site indicates that they are closed, but due to Sonoma County being in purple tier, and the other circumstances, we can assume that an overnight retreat will not be an option.

Even though an overnight stay is not likely, Alliance Redwoods is offering many one-day activities that include leaps, climbing activities, zip lines, and swings.

VCS may look into other campsites that are open during this period, or they might create their own version of retreat that is not held on a campsite.

There are some activities from previous retreats that will most likely be carried over to this year’s retreat.

“I enjoyed hanging out with my friends and playing basketball, I liked the basketball tournament the most,” sophomore Tanner Tripp said.

Another important thing that the Student Council may take into consideration when planning is what the students find most entertaining at retreat. “Something involving some sports tournament would be fun,” Tanner said.

Even though retreat is only a possibility, many events are coming to VCHS in the near future that include sports games and other Student Council planned events.
