On Tuesday, October 31, the VCHS Interact Club hosted a blood drive that was sponsored by BloodSource.

In order to donate blood, the student must be 16-years or older and must come prepared with parent permission if they are under under 18.

The blood drive’s mobile medical unit was used from 9:30 am to 2 pm in the front of the high school building where 35 students and staff members gave blood.

Each donor of blood is able to give their “points” to a certain individual in order to help cover for the cost of healthcare. This year, Interact Club orchestrated that all points from the blood drive be given to middle school cancer patient, Kyra Williams.

“My favorite part of donating blood is knowing that it will go towards helping to save lives and the free snack afterwards are pretty good too,” Sarah Lewis said.

The Interact Club sponsored the event by making posters and announcements during Chapel encouraging others to help save lives.
