On October 3, pastors from all over Solano County came to visit Vacaville Christian School to attend the annual Pastor Appreciation Day.

The pastors, VCS staff, and VCHS student body were greeted by Chapel Media Arts and Chapel Leadership as they entered the First Baptist Church.

The Pastor Appreciation chapel began with Chapel Leadership and HS and MS choir joining together to sing “That Thing you Do.” Seniors Elyse Gottschall and Ansley Alsbury and freshman Addison Alsbury danced to the song with a choreographed dance in front of the audience.

“My favorite part was the dancing because it was really entertaining and I liked how well it was choreographed,” sophomore Grace Richard said.

“I enjoyed dancing for the VCS pastors during chapel because I felt that I was able to show my appreciation for what they do and how they share the word of God,” Ansley Alsbury said.

HS and MS chapel leadership combined to sing “Your Love Never Fails” led by junior Denae Smittcamp, and “Cornerstone” led by eighth grader Jathan Manrique.

Mr. Joseph Rowland complimented the worship team, then welcomed up VCHS alumni and pastor at Celebration Church, Luke Barker.

Pastor Barker emphasized the importance of having God with us while we try to achieve things in life. To give an example, Pastor Barker brought up middle school basketball player, Thomas Lane, and varsity basketball player, Adam Grabowski. Grabowski shot far away from the basket while having obstacles in his path while Lane shot close to the basket with no obstacles in front of the basket.

The two difficulties in shooting were meant to demonstrate trying to achieve a goal with and without God’s word and support.

“My favorite part was when Adam shot the basketball into the little hoop, but missed,” junior Cody Lam said.

Pastor Luke Barker consistently stated how grateful the student body should be to have mentors and leaders in their faith such as pastors. He reiterated that pastors give the students the opportunity to ask questions about their faith and to see how to walk the christian faith with God.

As the students left chapel, they departed through the center aisle where they were able to thank the pastors.
