Both Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball Falcons are Sierra Delta League champions this season. Both Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball Falcons are Sierra Delta League champions this season. “I’ve coached the girls for years now ,and I haven’t really noticed anything different this year.

However, I noticed that this year, the successes that we have achieved was from weight training with Coach Bubar along with club. The girls have gotten incredibly stronger from that extra training,” said Coach Steve Jacobs. VCS Volleyball has been a powerhouse for two decades, and that kind of tradition creates strong bonds among every year’s teams.

“Making memories with my teammates is my favorite part. Being on a team with my friends creates a stronger bond because i’m with them 25/8,” junior Emma Alvarado said. Student fans have a great time watching the girls play.

“I enjoy watching the games. Usually I’m there with my friends who want to go. I don’t mind the atmosphere, I just like watching,” freshman Ethan Krier said.

On October 31, the varsity team played their first round of section play offs against Ripon Christian. The win came in three games, with scores of  25-15; 25-22, 19-25, and 25-23. So the girls moved on to second round at Angels Camp against #2 seed Bret Harte Union.  Coach Jacobs  called it “their best match of the season and fell just short 15-12 in the final set.

Each set, both teams gained the advantage at times, showing how well-matched they were. Falcons lost two sets to three:    18-25, 25-18, 10-25, 25-8, 15-12.In her final match Senior Elyse Gottschall led the team with 20 kills and 29 digs.
