Freshman Kirra Martin spikes on the visiting Rio Vista team September 19. Falcons got the victory in their first league math, setting the tone for the rest of the season.

VCHS Volleyball spiked on the competition during their League season this year. Long, arduous practices led to sweet sweet victory as the team remained undefeated in the Sierra Delta League. Who can stop our volleyball girls?

On the night of October 22, VCHS volleyball secured undefeated League victory against Golden Sierra. On the volleyball team, every player is crucial to maintain the foundation of the team. Every girl adds value to the team aspect, as witnessed here by players Jerrah Lopez and Kirra Martin.

“One instance of outstanding play that really stands out to me when we played Linden at home. Tory and Jianna placed the ball very accurately and intelligently which returned points,” senior Jerrah Lopez said. “Our back row: Lilya, Audrey, Sam, and Tory were also on their game with amazing ups and digs that save the game quite a few times. Everyone was working together for a common goal, and that is beautiful.”

“Every game, our setter Kayla was a very valuable asset to the team,” freshman Kirra Martin said. “She moved the ball around to every player and kept the game going. it would not have been possible to win any of our games without her because she always kept the ball going.”

Finally, on Halloween night, VCHS volleyball won their first playoffs game against Ben Holt Academy. On November 5, the Falcons lost a close game against Colfax.

Ultimately, the Falcon’s loss cost them Section Championships, but they’re not letting that stop them as they head into Northern California championships.
