This year, track and field is one of the sports that can remain relatively similar to the normal seasons in the past years. Last year, the track and field team was unable to compete in any league meets due to the pandemic. Mrs. Bubar has been the coach of the track team for a few years.

“I enjoy helping others to use the amazing gifts that God gave to them,” track and field coach Shannon Bubar said. “I also enjoy helping students to realize their potential and find their purpose in Christ.”

Practices are currently being held in the VCS weight room and at Al Patch public track in Vacaville which is considered the teams home track. The team practices safely by not sharing equipment and staying outside for the whole practice.

“I wanted to join the team to continue to get faster as well as to be there for the seniors that are leaving this year. partaking in xc as long as it lasted, I’m exhausted, but I’m still driven to keep on getting better,” sophomore Aaron Laxamana said. “I enjoy the people on the team. Through this, I’m making new friends and I also enjoy the sense of competition among everyone in every aspect of track.”

In both 2018 and 2017, the boys track team placed first in league. This year’s team looks to do the same with 4 league meets expected to happen in May.
