Track Team Crosses the Finish Line

In the past, both the boys and girls teams have placed first in the league a considerable amount of times.This season the track team was able to compete in a normal league season.

One particular runner on the track team is Aaron Laxamana, who viewed this season as a success. “With so many restrictions I didn’t think that track was going to happen this year, so the fact that I can run on the team is amazing,” Aaron said. “I’ve PR’d in my events multiple times and I still hope to continue to do so.”

On May 5, the VCHS men and women track teams placed 1st in their meet against Golden Sierra. On May 13, the VCHS men and women track teams placed first again.This meet consisted of four teams including Linden, Golden Sierra, and of course VCHS. The VCHS girls team scored 65 points and the boys team scored 83 points. The Linden girls team scored 26 points and their boys team scored 33. Golden Sierra’s girls team scored 24 points and their boys team scored 16 points.

Katie Stanek participated in the shotput and discus, Hawkin West, AnneliseLambrecht participated in the shot put, hurdles, 4×4, Chris Lespron participated in the 4×4, AJ Piehl participated in the 4×1.

“I guess my ambition is to keep on wanting to get better as a runner. My goals are probably higher than they should be, but I see that as motivation,” Aaron said.
