Our very own varsity cross country team is back after a year of not being able to compete and is racing through the finish line.
They kicked off their season on September 4, at the Lagoon Valley Classic, with the women’s team placing 5th and the men’s team placing 7th. Then, on September 30 at the Sierra Delta League (SDL) Center meet, the whole team showed immense improvement with the women’s team placing 1st and the men’s team placing 2nd. And at their first race in October on the 12th at Golden Sierra, both the women’s and the men’s team placed 1st. “I think not only are we getting better, but our bond is getting stronger, which makes our team as a whole stronger,” senior Jolee Langill said.
After a year of not being able to run as a team, our cross country runners are finally able to get back to it. Though the team as a whole is improving, some runners have experienced some struggles. After a year away from the sport, “it’s very difficult to get back into the swing of things,” Jolee said.
Our runners have shown immense improvement and are only getting stronger!
