Aaron Laxamana, Maverick, and apollo run for state against their opponets on Oct 28th at Lagoon Valley.

This year’s Cross Country was great. It was a challenge but the Cross Country Falcons came out with the win. “I don’t think I’d consider my cross country team as a team, but more as a family,” Aaron Laxamana said. Both teams made it to state. The girls team placed 2nd in subsections, so they were in a solid position to make it to state. And in sections they placed 2nd again and made it to state.

After the men’s team placed 4th at subsections, it was hard to see if the Men’s Cross Country team had any chance of making it past sections. But because of the efforts of the team, they somehow managed to make up for 68 places and became one of the top 2 teams to place. So they made it to state! 10 minutes after Aaron finished his race someone told him to go to the starting line, at which point the announcer announced that there was a tie for first place. In cross country, the top 5 runners from each team scored for their team, so because it was a tie we had to look towards the 6th runner. That sixth runner from our team beat the other sixth runner from the other top 2 teams.

“They not only made it to state, but they won sections through a tiebreaker and brought VCS another section title,” Aaron Laxamanna said.  Their practices were 1.5 hours, 4 days a week for 5 months, “I don’t think I could ask for any other team than this one,” Aaron Laxamana said.
