Men’s volleyball is back at VCS this year with a bang! Post-COVID the team is seeing a lot of success this year after finally being able to practice in the gym without restrictions.

The team this year is very diverse across all classes. There are also new sophomores and freshman as well as new coaching staff in Ms. Alicia Borges as well as Mrs. Carla Borges.

The freshman experience on varsity is also a unique one, “I’m very intimidated by the upper classmen, but I also look up to them and their skill. Also they’re cool and funny,” freshman Rei Libatique said.

The outlook on the season at the beginning of the year was promising, and they are off to a great start, going 5-4 overall and 4-2 in league as of April 1.

Some results of their last games are: a 3-0 win versus Marysville at home on March 21, a 3-1 win versus Golden Sierra at home on March 23, a 3-0 win versus San Juan away on March 28, and a 3-0 win versus Vanden at home on March 30.

They have games coming up on April 6 versus Marysville, April 14 versus Sacramento Adventist High School, April 18 versus Dixon High (during our Easter Break), April 25 versus Golden Sierra, and the final game at home on April 27 versus San Juan.
